When people think about California, they tend to think about glamorous Southern California and sophisticated San Francisco. They forget about the people in the middle, who live in the gigantic Central and San Joaquin valleys, which have been compared to Appalachia because of high levels of poverty, unemployment and food insecurity.
Junior League of San Joaquin County has an opportunity to win a grant to help support its community service programs. They’re asking people to help them secure a $7,500.00 grant from Raley’s, a big local grocery that knows first-hand how painful this recession can be. This grant will help support Junior League and its community service programs through out San Joaquin County.
Step-by-Step directions are online on the Raley’s Reach homepage.
After you register, select the tab that states “Browse All Ideas.” Type “Backpacks” in the search box.
Select and vote for the grant that is labeled “Fill backpacks with needed school supplies & have ready on schools 1st day.” You can vote once a day.
Junior League invites you to share this opportunity on your facebook account or with friends, via Facebook.
